Arjowiggins Graphic Survival Kit recognised as highly commendable at the European Paper Recycling Awards 2009
This year Arjowiggins Graphic applied for the European Paper Recycling Award 2009, organised by the European Recovered Paper Council (ERPC).
Arjowiggins Graphic submitted the Survival Kit in the 'Information and Education' category and it was one of a select number of projects that has been recognised as highly commendable by the judges. Arjowiggins Graphic were presented with a certificate outlining this recognition by HRH Prince Laurent of Belgium during the ceremony at the European Parliament in Brussels on the 29th September.
The ERPC was set up after the launch of the First European Declaration on Paper Recovery in November 2000 with the aim to monitor the progress made towards meeting the targets set out in the European Declaration (adopted in September 2006). The declaration pledges to take actions to further improve environmental performance and increase the recycling rate to 66%* by 2010.
The aim of the European Paper Recycling Award is to recognise efforts in innovative projects that promote paper recycling in Europe and therefore to inspire others to initiate good practices. This year's jury were: Phil Mogel (ERPC Chairman), Jo Leinen (Member of the European Parliament) and David Barrio (Recycling Director, ASPAPEL).
